The Driskill Hotel, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts and located in downtown Austin, is a four-star, AAA four-diamond hotel that seeks to provide the finest in service, ambiance, and hospitality.
Built as the showplace of a cattle baron in 1886, The Driskill has long been Austin's Grande Dame and a center for politics and high society.
Today, The Driskill offers deluxe accommodations and five-star dining in true Texas luxury.
It stands apart as a landmark of refined hospitality with a rich appreciation of the past and an elegant vision for the future.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work in conjunction with purchasing to ensure top quality product and price control
To plan and organize all menus in conjunction with Executive Chef
Keep food and labor costs within budget
Discuss and explain menus with all Sous Chefs
To hire quality management staff after initial screening by personnel
To work with all other Sous Chefs to produce high quality food at all times
To implement constant training of all Sous Chefs and Cooks
To make appearances at VIP parties and appearances in the restaurants in the chef’s absence.
Keep a clean and neat kitchen
Assist Pastry Chef in necessary areas
To represent the Driskill in the chef’s absence
Insure quality control in all phases of the kitchen
Maintain order and control problems associated with unexpected situations
Job Requirements
Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Minimum of ten years experience required in food industry with three years in fine dining
Responsible for organizing, supervising and coordinating the activities of cooks
Engaged in presentation and preparing menu items
Able to sauté, cook, broil and steam, fillet fish and make a variety of sauces.
Maintain a clean and safe work area adhering to food safety and health standards.
Ensures food ingredients are stored in their designated area and rotated in the proper manner, and maintains consistency of overall product
Handles and cleans kitchen equipment carefully and safely to prevent damage or injury.
Works efficiently and effectively to gather, wash, cut, season, cook and to store quality ingredients.
Performs a variety of butchering tasks, such as trimming, and cutting.
Prioritizes and organized tasks for speed and quality assurance.
Perform other kitchen duties as required.
Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills
Assists in training and leadership development of culinary staff.
Ability to work under pressure an take initiative in a fast paced environment
Must have a neat appearance and be well groomed
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
Occasionally lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs.
