 Responsibilities for this Position

  • The Driskill Hotel, managed by Destination Hotels & Resorts and located in downtown Austin, is a four-star, AAA four-diamond hotel that seeks to provide the finest in service, ambiance, and hospitality.
  • Built as the showplace of a cattle baron in 1886, The Driskill has long been Austin's Grande Dame and a center for politics and high society.
  • Today, The Driskill offers deluxe accommodations and five-star dining in true Texas luxury.
  • It stands apart as a landmark of refined hospitality with a rich appreciation of the past and an elegant vision for the future.

  • OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis: beer, wine spirits, paper products, straws, stirrers and condiments.
  • Monitor inventory.
  • Keep bar stocked and clean. Follow side-work sheet.
  • Provide excellent service to guests and assist promptly. Greet guests, promote and up-sale order drinks.
  • Mix drinks for servers according to standard recipes.
  • Familiarity with the wine list and the stemware and appropriate garnishes used.
  • Follow procedures as outlined in employee manual as well as cash bank procedures. Jigger-pour, making drinks for servers only when rung in on Micros.
  • Ring up tickets and orders and present to guests within 2 minutes of request.
  • Handle all checks and cash according to property procedures. Ensure accurate handling of money for cash-paying guests.
  • Be knowledgeable of the menu for guests ordering at the bar.
  • Ensure the consistency in the presentation and recipes of all cocktails.
  • Be familiar with and enforce all policies related to liquor liability laws.
  • Be familiar with all property amenities and services
  • At the end of each shift, lock up and store all beverages. Place perishable items back in proper storage areas. Secure bank and drop daily deposit.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and required training.
  • Follow and comply with all State, Federal and local liquor laws and regulations related to serving alcoholic beverages to minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Comply with safety procedures and regulated mandated by OSHA, State and Federal Laws and by the company policy.

 Job Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years bartending experience in upscale bars/restaurant.
  • Extensive wine knowledge
  • Pleasant personality
  • Cash handling experience
  • Ability to resolve guest complaints and issues to ensure 100% guest satisfaction
  • Must have current TABC certification.
  • Must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance according in compliance with the hotel’s policy.
  • JOB KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
  • Basic mathematical skills are required for all cash handling positions.
  • Excellent communication skills. Must have good English verbal and written skills to process requisitions, balance daily sheets, count vouchers, etc.
  • Ability to use hands in order to use knifes, prepare garnishment, pick up glassware and bottles, scoop ice, mix drinks.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in hands to write, operate keyboard, enter, open and close check orders in Micros system. Ability to operate cash register, ability to handle and grab bills and coins.
  • Ability to reach overhead to grab glassware, bottles, and other items needed for the preparation of food and beverages.
  • Ability to present item menus, remember and recite specials or other information as indicated by supervisors or management.
  • Ability to stand and work for long periods of time in confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift boxes, trays or other equipment of up to 50 lbs.

  • Must live in the local area or within commuting distance.
