 Scope of this Position

  • Position will be responsible for supervising/managing/overseeing the following departments: Engineers
  • In preparing for this position, candidate ideally will have worked in at least the following departments or positions: Chief Engineer
  • Requires a minimum of 3-5 year(s) of supervisory experience.
  • Requires a minimum of 5 year(s) of experience.
  • Approximate full time staff under this position: 5
  • This position reports to: General Manager
  • Must have experience at properties of similar size and quality.
  • Position will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and week-ends.

 Job Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
Technical Requirements:
  • Instill in all Engineering employees that they are there to serve the guest quickly and courteously.
  • Teach by showing.
  • Spend majority of time overseeing work being done by Engineering staff.
  • Ensure that Engineering employees keep all areas they are working in neat and clean.
  • Current on all safety and sanitation policies and procedures that impact the property.
  • Implement OSHA and ADA guidelines and programs.
  • Assist Housekeeping and Front Office in minimizing downtime.
  • Update and maintain engineering policies, procedures, work orders, etc.
  • Establish relationships with vendors to assure they provide continual input on new products, systems, etc.
  • Monitor vendors to assure quality, delivery, warranties, exchanges, upgrades, etc. are consistently utilized.
  • Work closely with vendors to assure proper pricing, delivery, and maintenance.
  • Create and implement preventive maintenance program.
  • Maintain and refine preventive maintenance program.
  • Strong technical skills in HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.
  • Familiar with chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatments, pneumatics, control systems, water systems, boilers, refrigeration, compressors, etc.
  • Strong energy management background.
  • Responsible for IS/MIS and Telecommunications functions.
  • Prior responsibility for landscaping highly desired.
  • Strong background in grounds and public space security plus in-room security.
  • New hotel opening experience desired.
  • Work closely with contractors on repair and capital projects.
  • Obtain competitive bids for all supplies and work orders.
  • Make cost evaluations on in-house repairs versus subcontractors.
  • Contract and supervise waste disposal service and recycling programs.
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance programs.
