About the Boss
The Director of Sales and Marketing has been a Director of Sales and Marketing for 20 years, and has been in the hotel industry for over 30 years. Hence, he provides his team with a wealth of knowledge and experience.
Scope of this Position
The Director of Catering Sales and Event Services will be responsible for the generations of over $4 million in group banquet and local catering food and beverage revenues.
This senior level leadership position requires an individual with a proven background in direct catering sales, both social and corporate, as well as significant exposure to Convention Services from a large, convention-oriented hotel. In fact, previous experience as a Director of Catering and/or Convention Services at a 300 room hotel or larger is a pre-requisite. The director will oversee a team of three (3) Catering Sales Managers and two (2) Event Services Managers. In addition to meeting personal sales goals, the Director will be responsible for leading, training and motivating the team to meet their individual and collective goals through the development and execution of specific market segment strategies. Sharp analytical skills are needed for accurate monthly forecasting and budgeting purposes.
Candidates must possess and be able to demonstrate excellent communications, organization, sales, leadership and customer service skills. This position calls for the Director to become highly visible in the local community through membership in selected professional and service organizations.
In preparing for this position, candidate ideally will have worked in at least the following departments or positions: Catering Sales &/ Event Services
Requires a minimum of 3 year(s) of experience.
This position reports to: Director of Sales & Marketing
Must have experience at properties of similar size and quality.
Position will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and week-ends.
Job Requirements
Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
Requires at least 3 or more years experience as a Catering or Event Services Management position in a full-service hotel or country club.
Work effectively with Rooms, Catering, Conference/Convention Services, and Banquet Departments.
Strong knowledge of sales skills technique to close on social business opportunities.
