The Banquet Manager will lead, manage and facilitate the needs of the entire Banquet Department staff, ensuring services and offerings are commensurate with guests’ expectations while consistently enforcing the established service standards. To establish policies and procedures and achieve the financial goals of the hotel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversee the smooth operation of all banquet functions to ensure a great overall experience for our guests.
2. Work closely with the Conference Planning and Catering Managers to coordinate and plan all events. Maintain a high degree of service and foresight to ensure successful meetings, weddings, and events
3. Supervise all budgetary functions and maintain records to support budget objectives.
4. Implement all of Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa policies and procedures.
5. Interview and train staff for key positions within all areas of responsibility to maintain a high level of service and professionalism.
6. Maintain personnel files in a confidential manner, and deal with confidential information in an appropriate manner.
7. Ensure accurate client billing systems to maximize highest possible revenue for the Resort.
8. Handling of evaluation process and the discipline of employees.
9. Responsible for 90 day forecasting of business activity levels in all departments.
10. Responsible for the capital plant of all areas. Maintain and update all capital expenditures as needed.
11. Control expenditures within budgetary guidelines.
12. Oversee and review all staffing programs within area of responsibility, to ensure maximum guest satisfaction and stay with budgeted guidelines.
13. Supervise Linen & Uniform Control. Maintain Budgeted guidelines in this area.
14. Responsible for supervision of Special Events operations and assist in the holiday décor program.
15. Supervision of Banquet Captains, Lead Servers, Servers and Housepersons. Responsible for all operations of the Banquet Department.
16. Ensure attendance all meetings as required, including pre-cons, department head, etc.
17. Maintain open communication within the department and with other operation departments.
18. Ensure that all front and back of the house areas are maintained in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
Job Requirements
Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE
High school graduate or equivalent.
Three years in a Banquet supervisory or management capacity.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to think clearly in an active work environment.
Detail oriented.
Exceptional follow through and follow-up skills.
Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor a a sometimes stressful work environment.
Luxury property and 4 Star / 5 Star experience preferred.
