JOB DESCRIPTION
================
Assist Banquet Manager in the serving of guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experience.
Set up banquet room as instructed by Supervisor to include linen, serviceware and glassware.
Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars, including guest and hotel expectations.
Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the Supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet. Promptly remove dishes as guests complete each course and/or meal at the end of the meal or function.
Abide by all State, Federal and Corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
Replenish beverages as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
Once banquet is complete, reset banquet room according to Supervisor’s specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following function.
Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.
Perform any other job related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
Hotel experience preferred.
Can communicate well with guests.
Must be willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player.
Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and serviceware.
Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift. Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Must have the ability to communicate in English.

MARRIOTT’S HUNT VALLEY INN HISTORY
April of 1971 saw the opening of the HUNT VALLEY INN - McCormick’s conference lodge. The INN had taken three long anxious years of building. Besides various strikes and new building regulations, it was solid limestone which delayed the completion. For example, the builders found it necessary to blast twenty feet into the solid granite-like limestone to construct the Inn’s beautiful Hunt Valley Ballroom of ten thousand square feet. The limestone was of a brittle nature and splintered easily, allowing only small portions to be blasted at a time. (This same “Hunt Valley Limestone” was sent to the nation’s capitol to serve as Maryland’s contribution, along with stone blocks from other states, to construct the U.S. Capital Building in the late 1700’s.)
The HUNT VALLEY INN and the adjacent Business Community was once the site of the 260 acre GERAR FARM. The homeplace was the site of many fox hunts. Mrs. Joseph G. Ridgely, descendant of the original owners, was largely responsible for the introduction of BLOCKADE who won the Maryland Hunt Cup in 1937, 1939, and 1940 in the Maryland history books.)
The Hunt Valley News, described the INN in the Summer Issue of 1971 as follows:
There is an extravagant price tag attached to the building files of this venture, yet it is not a pretentious place. The quality materials and appointments used in the building of the Hunt Valley Inn were chosen not for show but rather for service and to reflect the quiet elegance to the tradition-rich Maryland hunt country in which the building stands.
MARRIOTT’S HUNT VALLEY INN is proud of its history and confident of its future. The new owners of the Gerar Farm are respectful of the “traditions of the land which lie beneath them” and determined to have the former owners feel proud of their new traditions.
