The Ideal Candidate for this Position |
 |
Ideal Candidate: Current Director of Human Resources with experience in opening large “multi-use” resort communities with complex offerings. The ability to plan and execute a recruiting strategy, create a people development program and effectively create and communicate the culture of the property and company.

- Rising from the cliffs along Southern California’s most scenic coastline comes Los Angeles’ only destination resort on the Pacific Ocean, opening June 2009. The first luxury oceanfront resort located on the magnificent Palos Verdes peninsula. The resort offers 582 guest rooms including 82 ownership villas and casitas, exceptional dining venues, three sparkling pools overlooking the Pacific, 25,000 sq. ft. spa with sweeping views of the Pacific, a nine-hole par 3 golf course, and 138,000 sq. ft. of meeting and event space. Fourteen acres of natural habitat ring the site, including two miles of public trails that wind through the site. The resort’s scallop-shaped point juts out into the sea allowing spectators a beautiful panoramic view and the occasional migrating whale sighting.

Job Requirements |
 |
- Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
- Director of Human Resources CURRENTLY at a comparable luxury resort. Opening experience required. College degree with emphasis in Human Resources preferable. Experience with California employment law preferred.
Technical Requirements:
- Develop HR strategies and administer HR policies and procedures.
- Strong background in employment, employee relations, benefits, wage and salary, employee training, accident prevention, and government regulations and policies as they impact HR.
- Solid background in EEO, OSHA, ADA, anti-discrimination, COBRA, immigration requirements, etc.
- Effectively communicate and promote employee benefit program.
- Experience managing multiple person HR Department.
- Ability to maintain proper applicant flow, set affirmative action goals, write job descriptions, know various recruiting sources, coordinate/conduct new employee orientations, and ability to interview effectively.
- Work closely with Corporate/Regional/Franchise HR functions.
Managerial Requirements:
- Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to sell concepts and ideas to management, peers, and employees.
- Experience making presentations in front of groups.
- Demonstrate team building experience.
- Track record promoting an atmosphere of teamwork.
- Experience communicating, training, and managing multi-lingual staffs.
- Coach employees how to resolve and de-escalate conflicts.
- Instill a calm, organized approach in all situations.

- Strong technical skills.

- Excellent knowledge of computers.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Exceptional detail in follow-up.
- Thorough understanding of HR requirements and regulatory agency requirements.
Educational Requirements:
- BA/BS 4-5 year degree or foreign equivalency.
