 Responsibilities for this Position

  • GENERAL PURPOSE:
  • Tennis teaching professional will possess exceptional customer service and a strong work ethic on and off the tennis court.
  • This position will be responsible for on-court instruction, assisting with pro shop operations, and helping administer tennis court and facility maintenance.
  • The Wild Dunes Tennis Operation pride ourselves in running one of the top tennis resorts in the world which makes this position unique because teaching professionals will also aid in coordinating any special request, handling tennis groups, and following up on inquiries left by guests.
  • He or she is responsible for maintaining up to date and accurate information about the tennis center or any other current activities here at Wild Dunes Resort.

  • This is an on-call/as needed position.
  • ========================
  • DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Teach lessons and clinics to resort guests and members
  • Have lesson book open for lessons as requested by the Tennis director and Head Professional
  • Assist in all club functions (tournaments, tennis socials, etc.)
  • Participate in Monday night exhibitions
  • Conduct round robins as needed
  • Participate in weekend coverage as assigned
  • Perform required court and facility maintenance duties
  • Perform required pro shop duties
  • Perform any other reasonable related duties as requested
  • Exhibit professional behavior at all times
  • Maintain professional appearance and work uniform
  • Answering the phone enthusiastically and with professional etiquette.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • The individual must realize they will teach set daily hours and hours by request.
  • The tennis working environment during peak season is intense and requires a sharp and focused mind to give the member or guest their best possible tennis experience.

 Job Requirements

  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
  • KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
  • Knowledge of tennis and enthusiasm for the game of tennis are essential credentials for the applicant.
  • The individual should have good communication skills and be energetic while performing teaching requirements.
  • Tennis instruction of any kind is preferred but not necessary as long as the individual has a strong playing background.
  • Experience in resort tennis is preferred but not necessary.
  • SKILLS:
  • Excellent Communication skills- both verbal and written required
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal skills required
  • Excellent listening skills required
  • Basic mathematical skills required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • ABILITIES:
  • The ability to work well as a team as well as individually at times
  • Ability to multi-task in a high paced environment
  • Ability to read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Must be adaptable and flexible to change
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and be able to work weekends and holidays
  • To remain calm and professional at all times
  • Ability to work under varying weather conditions
  • Be able to make quick decisions and possess good judgment
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds
  • EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING:
  • High school diploma, GED, or the equivalent previous work experience required
  • Some College course work in Hospitality is preferred
Technical Requirements:
  • Must live in the local area or within commuting distance.
