Featuring 366 luxurious guest rooms, over 30,000 square feet of meeting space, and located in the upscale Plaza area, the InterContinental is Kansas City's premiere hotel property. |

Scope of this Position |
 |
- Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Sales Manager is responsible for working with both individual travelers and group clients to maximize overnight room revenue and/or catering revenue; achieving and exceeding established solicitation goals; and practicing a variety of proven sales techniques, including cold calls, sales blitzes, telephone solicitation, etc.
- Requires a minimum of 5 year(s) of experience.
- Must have experience at properties of similar size and quality.
- Position will be required to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights, and week-ends.

- Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
- Candidates must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Previous sales experience in full-service, upscale hotels required.
Technical Requirements:
- Experience selling to a variety of market segments.
- Actively participate in industry related organizations.
- Thorough knowledge of sales techniques.
- Enjoy asking for business and closing sales.
- Track record developing long term business relationships.
- Maintain consistent verbal and written communication with clients.
- Work effectively with Rooms, Recreation, Catering, Conference/Convention Services, and Banquet Departments.
- Excellent phone sales skills.
- Consistently meet or exceed sales goals.
- Enjoy a team sales approach.
