- Human Resource Director
- THE PROPERTY:
- A luxurious downtown Houston hotel located within the city’s thriving legal and business districts, Hotel ICON is a $35 million historic reinvention of the landmark Union National Bank building.
- Featuring 12 stories of custom-designed furnishings and sleek and trendy décor, this personal luxury hotel has become a gathering place for the city’s power brokers - and a choice destination for business and leisure travelers who appreciate exquisite accommodations and service.
- Hotel ICON’s world-class amenities include VOICE Restaurant, BALANCE Day Spa; and 5,000 square feet of event space offering the elegance and ambiance of an historic mansion.
- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- RECRUITING
- Ensure all exempt and non-exempt positions are filled in a timely manner by utilizing current and creating new innovative resources.
- EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- Act as a liaison between hotel staff and management as needed.
- LABOR RELATIONS
- Employee relations and labor-related matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws including, but not limited to, Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, workers’ compensation and comparable state and local laws, and general human and civil rights.
- Work with managers and departments to determine position openings and recruiting strategies to filling them.
- FACILITATION
- In conjunction with hotel managers open employee communications to discern grievances and respond to those grievances in an appropriate manner, including redressing those meriting correction.
- HUMAN RESOURCES ADMINISTRATION
- 1. Benefits
- >> a. Process all benefit enrollments, maintenance changes and terminations for all associates at the property.
- >> b. Conducts benefit orientations to educate and inform newly eligible associates as to the insurance options available to them.
- >> c. Assist associates with enrollments, changes and termination to their benefit programs and transitional information.
- >> d. Work with insurance carriers and plan vendors to understand the process and programs offered as they relate to the associates
- >> e. Accurately and timely process the benefit reports for Destination Hotels & Resorts utilizing tracking methods and invoicing software programs, ensuring accurate billing and employee payroll deductions
- >> f. Administer COBRA information and enrollment procedures for eligible associates as required by law.
- 2. New Hire and Termination Process
- >> a. Process all employee new-hire and termination procedure work as it relates their position.
- >> b. Manage the termination process and associate’s personnel information with diligence and confidentiality, as the situation requires.
- >> c. Conduct and quantify results of Exit Interviews
- POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
- Continuously review and revise policies and procedures to conform to current best business practices.
- CULTURE/EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND DEVELOPMENT
- 1. Perform new-hire orientations as needed to acclimate associates to the property
- 2. Recognize and reward associates with different, unique programs expressing sincerity in our Thank You.
- TRAINING: Develop and implement training programs to help foster employee culture, and create awareness in policy, procedure, and safety among working at the property.
- 1. Develop management training programs to better align department managers with related issues
- 2. Work with managers to ensure timely review/recognition programs are being utilized
- 3. Consistently reinforce training programs related to operations of the property:
- >> -Risk Management/Worker Safety
- >> -Harassment
- >> -Legal issues
- OPERATIONS: Assist management team in all aspects of hotel operations as they relate to the role of Senior Manager.
- 1. Perform MOD shifts as needed or required by property policy.
- 2. Attend management / operations meetings.
- 3. Assist departments currently not staffed by a full-time manager.
- 4. Interact with guests as to their experience with us, acknowledge feedback.
- 5. Practice our Mission Statement and Guiding Principles everyday.

- EDUCATION
- Bachelor's Degree
- EXPERIENCE
- Five to Seven years of Human Resources experience and operations management required.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Graduate Certificate, Human Resources Management
- Certificate, Professional of Human Resources (PHR / SPHR)
- Member of a Professional Human Resources Association (SHRM)
- LANGUAGES
- Bilingual capability in English and Spanish a plus!
